Prisoner

Black night and crackling fire
Unfulfilled obscene desire
Glistening horror climbing higher
Thoughts that never dare aspire
To heal or feel or become real

Sealed alone bricked in tower
Swirling smoke and all the power
The oppressors hands can grasp
How greedily they clasp
It close

The toad that squats and steals the air
Can neither leave, nor breathe
Neither had he eyes to see
The tears of those who would be free

Piercing light on cracking skin
Bones and sores of those so thin
They barely eat, or drink
Only time, when at the brink
To shudder when you stop and think
How very far a soul can sink.
